The New York Times' Lens blog posted this story about a photographer working to help support blues musicians and keep the blues alive.

Photographer Jimmy Williams supports an organization known as the Music Maker Relief Foundation with his images. Jimmy meets with aged blues musicians, usually in their homes, and spends a few hours getting to know them, and photographing them. He gives full access to his images to the foundation, which financially supports the musicians and their music.

Mr. Williams asks the musicians to dress as they would for a performance. In my opinion, this helps to show their musical inspiration. In many of the shots, I can see the musicians living out their past memories. These photographs are very personal, and are inspiring to me.
